Chief Justice Gesmundo Administers Oath to New Officers of Philippine Muslim Judges Association

Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo administered the oath of office to the new officers of the Philippine Muslim Judges Association (PMJA) on September 11, 2025, at the Supreme Court (SC) Dignitaries’ Lounge.

The Chief Justice was joined by SC Associate Justice Japar B. Dimaampao.

The PMJA was led by its President, Court of Appeals Associate Justice Edilwasif T. Baddiri.

Joining Justice Baddiri as newly inducted PMJA officers were Vice President for Second Level Courts Presiding Judge Wenida M. Papandayan, Branch 10, Regional Trial Court (RTC), Marawi City; Vice President for First Level Courts Presiding Judge Nurhani C. Pacasem-Nur, Municipal Trial Court, Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte; Vice President for Shari’ah Courts Presiding Judge Jamel T. Mamutuk, Branch 44, RTC, Initao, Misamis Oriental; Secretary-General Presiding Judge Mylene I. Amerol-Macumbal, Branch 3, RTC, Iligan City; Treasurer Presiding Judge Remee-Raida S. Tanjili, 6th Shari’ah Circuit Court, Luuk, Sulu; Auditor Presiding Judge Gracelina Gagarra-Bernardo, Branch 17, RTC, Zamboanga City; and Public Information Officer Presiding Judge Samina S. Macabando-Usman, Branch 8, RTC, Marawi City.

The PMJA representatives for Second-Level Courts are Presiding Judge Jehan B. Sampao-Hassiman, Family Court, Branch 11, Pasay City, and Presiding Judge Ysnaira A. Ibrahim, Branch 13, RTC, Cotabato City; for First-Level Courts, Presiding Judge Ishac L. Mangondato, first Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC), Marantao-Saguiaran Piagapo-Kapai-Tagoloan, Lanao del Sur and Presiding Judge Paiza Pacasem-Mamailao, fourth MCTC, Pagalungan-Buluan-Pandag-Mangudadatu-Datu Paglas, Maguindanao; and for Shari’ah Courts, Presiding Judge Sirikit B. Berua, 12th Shari’ah Circuit Courts (SCC), Wao, Lanao del Sur, and Presiding Judge Osop Mangotara Ali, fourth SCC, Iligan City.

The PMJA Presidential Deputies are Presiding Judge Mohammad Aquil Tamano, Branch 77, RTC, San Mateo, Rizal; Presiding Judge Arassad M. Macumbal, Branch 2, RTC, Iligan City; Presiding Judge Ali-Ombra R. Bacaraman, Branch 4, RTC, Iligan City; Presiding Judge Rohermia J. Jamsani-Rodriguez, Branch 9, Family Court, San Fernando, Pampanga; Presiding Judge Shaldilyn B. Bangsaja, Branch 33, RTC, Zamboanga City; and Presiding Judge Bai Ashrafia Aymee A. Biruar, Branch 14, RTC, Cotabato City.

Retired Shari’ah Circuit Court Judge Kaudri L. Jainul, who will serve as PMJA’s Adviser, also took his oath.

The induction marks a significant milestone for the PMJA as it embarks on its new chapter of leadership, reaffirming its commitment to strengthen the role of Muslim judges in advancing justice.
