The Supreme Court (SC) En Banc issued Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) in the following cases involving local government candidates for the 2025 National and Local Elections: 

G.R. No. 277720, Marie Grace R. David v. Commission on Elections (COMELEC)

The SC issued a TRO preventing the COMELEC from implementing its Resolution dismissing Marie Grace R. David’s Petition for Substitution and Inclusion in the Official List of Candidates/Ballots for Vice-Mayor of Limay, Bataan. 

The SC ordered the COMELEC to comment on the petition within a non-extendible period of 15 days from receipt of the notice and required the personal filing of the comment.

G.R. No. 277698, Mary Dominique A. Oñate v. COMELEC and Myra Georgina L. Arevalo

The SC issued a TRO preventing the COMELEC from implementing its Resolutions declaring Mary Dominique A. Oñate a nuisance candidate for the position of Mayor of Palompon, Leyte.

The SC ordered the COMELEC and Myra Georgina L. Arevalo to comment on Oñate’s petition within 10 days from receipt of notice.

G.R. No. 277731, Aldrin B. Sta. Ana v. COMELEC and Arturo P. Mendoza, Jr.

The SC issued a TRO preventing the COMELEC from implementing its Resolutions canceling Aldrin B. Sta. Ana’s Certificate of Candidacy for Mayor of Bocaue, Bulacan. The SC also prevented the COMELEC from deleting Sta. Ana’s name among the candidates for Bocaue Mayor.  

The SC ordered the COMELEC and Arturo P. Mendoza, Jr. to comment on Sta. Ana’s petition within 10 days from receipt of notice and required the personal filing of the comment. (Courtesy of the SC Office of the Spokesperson)
